Pastors' Bible Study

Hot Potatoes: Controversial Subjects in the Bible
Wednesdays, 6:30 - 7:15 pm in the Sanctuary
The purpose of this study is to examine closely what the Bible teaches about several potentially controversial issues that impact us today.  We will spend as much time on each subject as we need for thorough understanding. The goal is to uncover what the Bible says, not to evaluate modern opinions.

Possible topics include:
Is monogamy possible? (Sex, Marriage and Divorce)
Does the Bible teach gender equality? (Women in the Church)
The Church in the world (the church and nations)
Am I really expected to forgive?
Is Jesus Christ human and/or divine? (How can that be?)
Can Christians kill? (Military service)
Can rich people go to heaven?
Is it OK to pull the (medical) plug?
Is it sinful to put Mom in a nursing home?

We are reading Fear to Freedom by Rosemary Trible.  She turned tragedy in her life into peace, restoration, and forgiveness and has mentored hundreds of women caught in the cycle of fear and pain. She empowers women to know they do not have to live in pain, but can discover their own journey to hope and healing. The book may be purchased on Amazon.com or at Barnes and Noble.
