Welcome to Children's Ministries!

Children are important to God and they are important to Mt. Pisgah. We believe that a vital part of our mission to bring others to Christ involves teaching children about God and Jesus in ways that are meaningful, engaging and age-appropriate. We seek to engage children in programs and activities that help them to know and experience God’s love for them and for all of creation. Our focus is on helping children know God for themselves and on helping families learn how to live out their faith in real and meaningful ways. We invite you to join us at any of our children’s programs to experience God’s love in action. We always welcome new faces!

Kay Adams, our Director of Children’s Ministries, is available to speak with you about our programs and activities any time. You may reach her by phone at 804-794-5856x226, or stop by the Children’s Ministry office (upstairs in the Education building, Room 208). No appointment is necessary; office hours are generally M-W, 9:30am-12:30pm.

Children's Council

Interested in learning more about Children’s Ministry at Mt. Pisgah? Join us for a Children’s Council meeting! Meetings are open to all. Our next Children’s Council meeting is Sunday, May 6 at 2:00pm in Room 211 (Education building, upstairs across from the Children’s Ministry office). Meetings are very casual and usually designed to generate lots of discussion about future plans for programs and activities. We hope to see you there!

Child Protection

At Mt. Pisgah we believe that the spiritual, emotional and physical well-being of children and youth is vital. All members of the church staff have completed a thorough background check and all volunteers working with children and youth on a regular basis are required to complete the volunteer background screening process and to comply with the Mt. Pisgah Child Protection Policy. It is our intent that these procedures will assist our congregation to provide a physically safe, emotionally secure, and spiritually nurturing environment for all who attend services or activities sponsored by Mt. Pisgah. For more information about these policies and procedures please contact Kay Adams or a member of the Child Protection Committee.

Opportunities to Join Us in Ministry

Want to help with Children’s Ministries? Here are some of our current ministry opportunities:
Nursery Care Team Members are needed to serve in the church nursery on Sunday morning once a quarter. We have several openings for nursery volunteers, both at the early shift (8:05-9:25am) and the later shift (10:40-12:10). Please contact Kay Adams or Chelsey Williams for more information or to sign up.
Vacation Bible School Planning Team is now forming! We will have 2 VBS sessions this summer; one just for preschoolers, and one for all ages (birth through adults). This is a great way to get your feet wet and find out how much fun it is to share your faith with kids! And it’s a short-term commitment too! Please contact Kay Adams for more information.
• It’s not too early to start thinking about teaching in summer Sunday School! We need lots of people to teach one Sunday (or two!) during the summer (June 17-Sept 2, 2012) so our regular Sunday School teachers can have a little break. All curriculum, supplies and training are provided; you just need to bring a willing spirit and a love of children! For more information about teaching in any of our children’s Sunday School programs, please contact Kay Adams.
